Point 3

See the entrance on the left; follow this. The Grove was originally an area of woodland and grazing land for cattle . It was also the village bleaching green supporting the village flax industry.

As you walk up the drive look to your left.

The actual house, the Grove (now extended considerably), was built in 1914 and was home to a Miss Baxter, ornithologist and naturalist. Awarded an M.B.E.in 1945 for co-organising the women’s land army in both World Wars, she often opened up the garden of the Grove for local events and her kitchen was used for cookery demonstrations.

Retrace your steps and return to Main Street turning LEFT.
