Welcome to the Methil Heritage Trail! You are about to embark on a journey through 5000 years of world-changing history.
This route will take you approximately two hours and is suitable for all ages. All you need is a smartphone. This route is suitable for walkers, cyclists, mobility scooters and wheelchairs. There are two hills with a moderate gradient, so please be aware if pushing a wheelchair. The route is paved, so is suitable in all weathers and footwear.
This trail begins from the west side of Bawbee Bridge which spans the railway line and the river Leven, opposite the Shell petrol station.

Methil is a fascinating place with lots of history and culture which we will share with you over the next two hours. We will learn about life on the rough sea, the tough conditions working underground and the future of clean energy for all.
It's reported that WWII both started and finished in Britain here in Methil, and it has been home to some remarkable historical achievements.
Along the route, there are refreshments, rest breaks, art galleries, souvenir shops and Methil’s own museum.
