Point 1

Although it’s hard to believe now, the Glen was once a hive of industrial activity. By the late 18th Century it was being mined and quarried for coal, ochre and sandstone. But by last century the coal was mined out, demand for ochre had declined and nature began to heal the scars so you can enjoy the Glen today.

The stream on your right is called the Scoonie Burn, after the name of this area of Leven. The car park across the burn has been levelled out from a spoil heap for a coal mine!

Do NOT use your phone while walking
Please remember to never walk while looking at your phone! Always pay attention to your surroundings and watch where you’re going. When stood still, feel free to use your phone to take photos, learn the information and interact. But when you're moving, that should be your focus.
