The Aurrie (rhymes with “lorry”) is located just off the beach in the middle of the picturesque and historic Fife village of Lower Largo. From 1867 until 2001 the building was the Largo Baptist Church. They are now a café , host events and show-case art by local artists and makers.

And why is it called “The Aurrie” ? It’s from the old Scots name for “area” which is generally regarded as the root of the many spellings of the slipway road that leads to the beach. (Though don’t ask a local as there are as many opinions on the spelling as there are grains of sand on the beach … well almost.)
